Greetings from Bali

I have never seen somewhere so green in my life, and that’s coming from someone who lives in the Evergreen State. Yes– Bali is every incredible thing you’ve ever heard about, and more.

Now traveling with my family, I didn’t do the classic Bali Backpacker trip. Our first stop on this lively island was the Alila Ubud, among the lush rainforests of Bali. Alila is one of the most beautiful resorts I’ve ever seen, surrounded by vibrant tones of greens and blues, an infinity pool looking over the edge of the rainforest (photo above). It was the perfect place to relax for a couple days after such a long flight, and enjoy the atmosphere. We’d wake up early in the morning to do yoga by the pool, and watch the monkeys jump from tree-to-tree in the afternoon. While Alila doesn’t provide easy access to the city itself, it was an incredible way to start the trip.

Alila is filled with luxurious individual villas with beautiful personal pools, outdoor showers, and views of the rainforest. Photos below of our rooms:

Alila hosted several events while we were there, including daily tea and yoga, and an outdoor movie screening by the pool at sunset. While we didn’t get to see much of Bali itself during our couple of nights here, it was an incredible resort to wind down at. I almost wish this was the resort that we ended our trip on.
